Description

For the first time, the 2019 Salzl Pannoterra contains a share of Cabernet Franc, the best red grape variety in the portfolio according to the Salzl family. As always, the other grape varieties are Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and, for the first time with the 2019 vintage, Cabernet Franc from the vineyards (AT=Rieden) Lüss, Martenhof and Sandriegel in Illmitz on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl.

The aroma of the 2019 Salzl Pannoterra is reminiscent of dark berries, cocoa, pepper and vanilla notes from the barrel. On the palate it is voluminous, more structured than previous vintages, the ripe tannins are more present, the wine is powerful in the mouth, it has finesse and power, with perfect balance. The persistent finish is always accompanied by freshness, the 14.5% alcohol is perfectly integrated.

At the Salzl estate, we are very happy with the 2019 vintage. The wines have a very high level of all components and are thus in perfect balance for long storage. The 2019 Pannoterra will probably have a longer life than its predecessors.

Falstaff magazine gives the 2019 Pannoterra a score of 93/100. Taster Peter Moser mentions notes of forest berries, liquorice and delicate woody spice. On the palate, he notes the well-integrated tannins and the wine’s length.
