BODEGAS LUZON – ORIGEN DE LUZON SYRAH 2020

12,50  TVA incl.

Bodegas Luzón is launching its two new ‘Origen Luzón’ wines on the market as a tribute to its exciting history and with the aim of making them a benchmark. Its oenologist, Vicente Micó, has opted for the Garnacha Tintorera and Syrah grape varieties, thus expanding the plant diversity and environmental richness of the winery’s environment, which belongs to the Jumilla Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).

With these new wines, the bodega recalls its past: a project of José Molina, who for several years was a commander of the royal armies on the Philippine island of Luzón, the origin of the bodega’s name, and who, on his return to Jumilla, began the project of producing wine. The winery was bequeathed to his daughter, being linked to the female branch of the lineage from the beginning. In 2005, the Fuertes family took over the baton and gave it a boost in modernity thanks to important investments.

Origen de Luzón’ is composed of a 100% Garnacha Tintorera of marked character, with 8 months in oak barrels and a red wine with a deep cherry red colour and high intensity, with an expressive, intense and complex nose, with aromas reminiscent of black fruits (blackberries, cherries), liquorice and menthol. In the mouth it is round, concentrated, with ripe and structured tannins. Very good volume with a long and persistent finish.
This is joined by a 100% Syrah, of great aromatic intensity and concentration with 6 months in oak barrels, deep ruby red in colour, where the aromas of blackberry, blueberries, rose petals and violets open up to reveal herbaceous, spicy notes and subtle hints of oak and cocoa. The palate is fresh, concentrated and very mineral with fine tannins and perfect balance.

Two expressive and lively wines that join the great family of wines of Bodegas Luzón in which the constant common denominator is to obtain the maximum expression of the varieties grown.
