Description
In the glass, Figaro from the Salzl Seewinkelhof estate displays a bright platinum-yellow color. On the nose, this Austrian white wine reveals aromas of Nashi pear, classic pear, apple, and quince. Thanks to aging in small oak barrels, additional notes of wood, gingerbread spices, and oriental spices emerge.
On the palate, Figaro offers a pleasantly fruity and perfectly balanced aromatic expression. Its texture is both dense and light. The beautiful fruity acidity gives the wine remarkable freshness and liveliness. The finish, from the winegrowing region of Burgenland (specifically Neusiedlersee), is long-lasting and elegantly supported by mineral notes from the sandy and clay-rich soils.
Vinification of Figaro – Salzl Seewinkelhof
This balanced Figaro is a single-varietal Grüner Veltliner. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Burgenland, on soils rich in sand and clay. After harvest, the grapes are quickly brought to the winery, carefully sorted, and gently crushed. Fermentation takes place in small oak barrels at controlled temperature, followed by 6 months of barrel aging.
Food Pairing
This Austrian white wine is best enjoyed well-chilled at 8 to 10 °C – ideal with pan-seared trout with ginger-poached pear, coconut-lime fish curry, or a fruity endive salad.
